 LI: To understand How important Matariki is for New Zealand    Matariki is a time to celebrate when your families come closer.For Matariki we've made a few pieces of amazing work.We made an information brocure about Matariki. We wrote about the story of  Matariki, we found some facts about Matariki, we named all the Matariki stars and we showed how to find Matariki. What I found interesting was that there is so much information about Matariki      

 LI: To identify what tools Maori people used back in the olden days        This week for inquiry we’ve been focusing on Matariki. Matariki is a time where we can come together and celebrate the Maori New Year with our family and friends. For this activity we found out what tools Maori used in the olden days and found out information about the tools they used.  I found this activity fun because.In the olden days people had to do so much work just to plant or harvest crops

    LI: To strengthen our connections to Matariki.      Matariki is the Maori new year celebration. It takes places each year when the cluster of stars known as Matariki are seen in our skies. The new year is a time for new beginnings and is a time to embrace tradition. To strengthen our connections to Matariki we had a choice of research activities. I found out that Matariki comes around June and July and that next year there will be a public holiday for it. I enjoyed this because I got to learn more about the country that I live in.
