Maths Cordinets

LI: to understand the coordinates giving the altitude and longitude. 1:(6,1), 2:(1,1), 3:(3,4) 4:(5,3), 5:(3,2) 6:(2,3) 7:(2,1) 8:(3,3) 9:(1,4) 10: (6,1) For todays maths we were given a grid with two lines of numbers, one line of numbers identifies the verticle lines and the other set identifies the horzontle lines. A dot was placed where a line meets another and we were tasked at finding out the coordinate towards that dot.

Maths

LI: To define the terms and understand the properties of 2D shapes.     Our challenge today was to find the definitions of a 2D shape then draw the shape. I chose to use the shapes tool because it gave us more of a challenge rather than just drawing it. I found this really interesting and fun because I got to learn new words relating to Geometry, and 2D shapes while being able to collaborate with my friends.

Geometry L-D

This week for Maths lockdown learning we are learning about geometry. Geometry is a branch of maths which focuses on measuring and comparing shapes. For this task we defined different geometry terms and showed an example of them for example circumference which is the perimeter of a circle.

Find, Fix, Explain

LI:  to find the most efficient strategy   For Maths we were learning about how to locate and identify errors, then how to fix the problem. It was really fun doing, and I was able to show my strategy. It was especially fun doing, being able to work with my friends. The questions we had were multiplication, addition, and BEDMAS. BEDMAS stands for Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction.

Maths Writing Words

LI: Find the most efficient strategy for math questions  As a group we worked on papers to write our thoughts more clearly. Our strategy was to add the first 3 numbers (657, 493, 1183) and get an answer of 2333, we then subtracted that number from 6000 to get our final answer of 3667. We then created a DLO of our understanding.

Maths DLO

L.I to use the most efficient strategy This week for online learning I worked with a group of four people to solve this question. We worked out that each person would shake hands with 53 other people since there are 54 people and you can’t shake hands with yourself. So we multiplied 53x54 to the answer which is 2862.

3D house Maths

Image
L I:To use the most efficient maths strategy For the first Maths lockdown challenge we figured out how many wall and roof pieces the world’s first 3D printed house has. What we did- we read the questions then we did 195 + 85 =  280  We did the rest of the questions as you can see above in the DLO. We worked cooperatively in groups to solve these questions and create a DLO of our findings.

Olympic Challenge 3

Image
This is a screencastify explaining what I did to     For Olympic challenge 3 there were 250 squares in a racket we had to find out how many right angles were in the racket. To find the answer to this question we would need to find the out how many angles there are in a square, it was 4, so our new equations was 250 x  4 which equaled to 1000.

Olympic Challenge 1

Image
L.I to use the most efficient stratigies to find the answers     The Olympics is currently happening, our maths group have 8 Olympic challenges for us to complete. This challenge was about Michael Phelps and the events he competed in. Our questions were how far did he swim and how many strokes it took to get him there.

Super Fingers Challenge

Image
This week for maths, we had a competition of Super fingers.  Super fingers is a game that recalls the times table. The People who made it to the quarter finals were Kruse, Afatia, Chris and Mahdi. The third round was the semi finals. The winners for this round was Vayan, Afatia, Chris, Spelman. For this round, the teams were uneven so it was Vayan vs Micah. The fourth round was the finals Chris and Afatia. The champion for this competition was Afatia. I enjoyed the competition because I get to recall my times table.

Exponents

Image
LI: To explain what exponents are.   This week we were learning about exponents. Exponents are useful because the example in our DLO shows that it is easier to write 3x3x3. Exponents tells us how many times we need to multiply a number. This DLO shows how we used our knowledge of exponents to collaboratively share our thinking.
